With mountains cast as patriarchal figures and through subsequent processes of fracturing the landscape, painting becomes an act of resistance to unravel patriarchal underpinnings, re-casting the mountains as safe structures. Through manipulating scale, colour and memory of place, new relationships to site and self can emerge.
